Our Porch Garden 2008
It’s no secret… I can’t cook very well lol But I can grow almost anything, almost anywhere. This year… having a traditional garden is out of the question. I had a quick idea of planting some tomato plants in a large planter… and that grew to adding squash, onions, peppers, carrots, and even some flowers! I’m also adding some cucumbers, but am waiting to plant until the signs are in the right position. You can pick up a calendar that will tell you the signs at your local Co-Op center. If you don’t have a “Co-Op” then email me at FallenMoonlight7@aol.com and I’ll get one for you.
(Those of you that go by where the signs are… you know your stuff!)
*Never plant anything that gives fruit or veggies three days before until three days after the New Moon. If you do... the plants will grow very big but not produce much at all.
And on to the pics… as if you didn’t know this was going to happen lol
Squash

I had to transplant them into a much larger container and I'm sure I'll have to transfer them once more before the process is complete. Just remember (for those of you following along at home) when you transplant the squash... make sure you plant it fairly deep. Provides strength and the roots are very long.
Green Onions

I'm not sure these are doing so well
It's very hard to thin them and I can't remember if they're supposed to be thinned very much at all. They were in the shape of a little tuft in their starter planter... and it just looked way too crowded. I decided to thin them a bit so they would thrive. Let's hope I made a good choice... I so love green onions
Tomatoes

These are the tomatoes... two types are growing here. The small cherry or salad tomatoes and the big beefy. If you look close, you'll see a shamrock growing in the mix. This is due to planting them in the same large planter that I had the shammies in last year. It gave me a nice smile. I've started transplanting the plants into other containers... but am going to ask neighbors, community centers, friends, and family... if they want some. There are too many (more than what's in this pic) and I'll never get all of them transplanted.
The other veggies have not decided to poke through the soil. So as soon as we see them... I'll update the pics here.
Impatient Impatients

Forget Me Nots

These have to be thinned and placed into larger planters... but they are growing so nicely.
